Does this actually remove pet hair, or just reduce it?
Restiva is designed to dissolve and release pet hair during the wash, which significantly reduces the amount of hair left on clothes after the cycle. Results can vary by fabric and load, but most users notice a clear difference after the first wash.
How is this different from regular washing machine tablets?
Washing machine tablets are designed to clean odor, limescale, and detergent residue. They don't contain protease and cannot break down keratin, the protein structure that makes pet hair behave the way it does inside your machine. Restiva was built specifically for that problem, and nothing else.
Will this work on cat hair too?
Yes. Restiva works on all types of pet hair, cats, dogs, rabbits, and more. "K9" is simply part of our branding, but the formula is designed to dissolve and release any common household pet hair during the wash.
Do I need to change how I do laundry?
No. You add Restiva to the washer and run the cycle as directed. There's no pre-cleaning, no tools, and no extra steps beyond what you already do.
What if my washer doesn't have a Self-Clean cycle?
If your machine doesn't have a dedicated Self-Clean or Tub Clean mode, use the hottest and longest heavy-duty cycle available that can reach 194°F. Avoid delicate or hand-wash settings, as high heat is required for Restiva to work properly.
Are there any fabrics I shouldn't use it on?
Yes. K9Clean should not be used on wool, silk, leather, cashmere, down, or color-sensitive printed fabrics. We recommend checking fabric care labels before use.
Is Restiva safe for septic systems and my washing machine?
Yes. Restiva is designed to be septic-safe when used as directed and compatible with standard and HE washing machines. It dissolves fully during the wash and won't clog drains, damage your washer, or cause long-term buildup.
How long until I see results?
